Concurso Internacional Ejercicios Manguito Rotador Posterior: GANADOR

En primer lugar hemos de decir que las amenazas y cantidades de dinero que hemos recibido no ha influido en el veredicto del jurado. En segundo lugar, recordar que buscamos iniciar la fase de fortalecimiento de una persona con síndrome subacromial, lo que ha condicionado los criterios de selección de ejercicios. Dicho lo cual, el ganador del concurso internacional de ejercicios para el manguito rotador posterior es…… (suena un redoble de tambor, el público empieza a ponerse nervioso, y de golpe y porrazo……¡SORPRESA!):


Para el jurado han sido fundamentales los datos sobre presiones subacromiales  con distintos grados de elevación31; y que la rotación externa en aducción genera un desplazamiento inferior del ligamento coracoacromial24.

Otro criterio importante a tener en cuenta ha sido la ratio manguito rotador posterior/deltoides posterior, ya que una dominancia del deltoides posterior va a provocar una excesiva traslación superior del húmero.

Atendiendo a estos criterios ya sólo quedaba elegir entre el ejercicio en decúbito lateral o en bipedestación. El problema de la rotación externa en decúbito lateral2,28 es que registra una sobreactivación del deltoides que no es lo más deseado en las fases tempranas de la rehabilitación del síndrome subacromial4. Aunque hay algunos estudios posteriores en los que hay una mayor ratio MRP/Deltoides para la rotación externa en decúbito lateral, hay más en los que la ratio es más favorable en bipedestación; por lo que podemos decir que la rotación externa en decúbito lateral ha rozado la victoria, y cualquiera sabe si la ciencia podría otorgarle el primer premio en el futuro. También debemos reconocer que los ejercicios tumbados no son nuestra predilección y nos gusta dejarlos para cuando no quede más remedio, así que un motivo más  para elegir el que hemos elegido. Pero es muy mejorable cuando optimizemos algunos parámetros, así que atentos a las siguientes entradas, donde también explicaremos a fondo porqué lleva una toallita bajo el brazo.

Evidentemente este ejercicio no va a curar todas las lesiones de hombro, ni va a ser el que le de la victoria a un culturista, ni se van a crear clases colectivas en los gimnasios donde sólo se realice este ejercicio. Simplemente es el primer ejercicio de fortalecimiento para las personas con síndrome subacromial, en personas donde este défici sea la causa biomecánica, si es que esta existe (leer Las lesiones son más complejas que un tres en raya)… Puede que a este ejercicio se le suba un poco a la cabeza el éxito tras verse en la élite de los ejercicios saludables para el hombro, pero después de ver la importancia del manguito rotador posterior, y conociendo lo frecuente que es el síndrome subacromial,  no se lo tengas en cuenta…. ¡Este ejercicio es un crack!
